When to contact first point
Whether something has suddenly happened, or has been building for a while, it can be worrying to realise your home is at risk. The first step is to talk to someone. First Point is a service available to single people and couples living in Bedford. If you are a family with children, please contact Bedford Borough Council directly.
You can speak to us if:
• You have been staying with friends or family and your options are running out, or you have been asked to leave
• You are getting into arrears (debt) that will put you at risk of losing your home
• You are having issues with your landlord that might put your home at risk
• You are leaving a relationship/left a relationship and have nowhere to go
• You have been issued warning letters stating your home is at risk (for any reason)
We will work alongside you to look at your situation, provide support, and offer that together, we connect you with other organisations and services that might also be able to help.
We will support you to have a statutory homeless assessment with Bedford Borough Council, to check if you are eligible for additional help, if you wish (this is not a requirement).
